Norton Weekend Agenda: Help Norton's Homeless Animals, Take in an Outdoor Children's Movie, a Kayak Tour and More!

Nine Lives of Norton: If having a pet does not fit into the family dynamic, there are still ways to help local felines in the Norton area. The shelter is always in need of donations to keep them well supplied and what a great way to teach kids about the workings of an animal shelter and the art of giving. Many of these items can be found at home. Their wish list includes: Friskies canned food, Fancy Feast canned or dry food, Purina One or Iams dry food, canned kitten food, litter pans, non-clumping cat litter, bleach, paper towels, laundry detergent. dish soap and multi-purpose cleaner. Summer Glimpse at Wheaton College: Tired of those long grueling college tours? Explore WheatonΒ  College through their summer glimpse program which will be held the morning of Friday, July 26. Tour the campus with a current student and attend an information session which includes a professor and admission staff member. Wheaton College is located at 26 E. Main St. Registration begins at 9:45 a.m.

Children's Movie Night: Every Saturday evening, the Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary holds a family movie night on their super-sized movie screen. Bring a comfortable chair or blanket and sit back and enjoy the show under the stars! Cost is $5 per person, age 2 and under free. Call early afternoon for the movie selection at 508-285-6451. Take a Kayak Tour: The Norton Kayak Company holds spectacular tours all summer long and this weekend is the perfect time to enjoy the cooling temperatures and experience a great family adventure on the 530 acre Norton Reservoir. This flat water paddling trip is perfect for beginners and experienced kayakers, birdwatchers, water sport enthusiasts. fishermen and nature lovers. Tours run 9 a.m.-12 noon, 1-4 p.m., and at sunset. Outdoor Concert: Listen to the cool sounds of the American pop rock band Train who is performing their Mermaids of Alcatraz Tour with The Script and Gavin Degraw.
