Plain Street Bridge In Norton To Reopen Wednesday

After over a year of work, the bridge will reopen.

NORTON, MA – The Plain Street Bridge in Norton will reopen Wednesday at noon, the Norton Police Department said. Work began on the bridge last April and was expected to last just six months, but the timeline was pushed back in the fall, according to the Sun Chronicle.

Renovations to the bridge carrying Plain Street over the Canoe River included replacing three metal culverts to reduce flooding in the area and adding five-foot shoulders for bicyclists and pedestrians.

The project was delayed to relocate telephone poles and work around gas lines, which was slowed because the bridge spans a body of water and workers could only operate on one section at a time, the Sun Chronicle reported.
