Police Arrest Seven Minors for Possession of Alcohol and Seatbelt Violations

None of vehicle occupants were from Norton.

Seven teenagers were arrested early this morning, Saturday, March 26, for seatbelt violations and possession of alcohol.

At 1:19 a.m., Norton Ptlm. Christopher McCarthy stopped a Gray Nissan Altima on W. Main Street in the Area of the for a defective equipment violation.

The vehicle was operated by Mollie Lane, 19, of Hanover. Officers discovered the vehicle to be overcrowded with no occupants wearing seat belts. The vehicle is a registered five-passenger vehicle and the vehicle contained seven passengers. Officers removed all passengers and discovered a large amount of alcohol inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Officers further determined that all occupants were under 21 years of age.

All occupants were placed under arrest and charged with minor in possession of alcohol and seat belt violations. All were later released and will appear in Attleboro District Court on various arraignment dates. None of the vehicle occupants were from Norton.

A similar incident happened Feb. 19, where 14 teenagers were arrested for seatbelt violations and possession of alcohol.
