Norton Police Chase: 2 Arrested, Officer Hurt, Stop Sticks Deployed

Norton, MA — Police deployed stop sticks to end a chase through several towns—including Norton—Thursday morning.

The chase continued through Norton and Taunton; Poirier ran over stop sticks on Route 495 and was taken into custody when his vehicle came to a stop, police said.

Stephen Poirier was charged with assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. He also had several warrants.

William Poirier was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to obey police, and disorderly conduct. Police said he will likely face further charges.

"The Mansfield Police Department would like to extend our gratitude to the Taunton Police Department, Town of Raynham Police Department, and Norton Police Department, as well as Massachusetts State Police Troopers from Foxboro and Middleboro barracks," Mansfield police said in a statement. "All agencies worked together to bring this incident to a quick and safe conclusion."
