Police Log Aug. 5 - 12

The following information was supplied by the Norton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

 Suspicious activity in some neighborhoods reported. Also a local woman arrested for shoplifting.

Friday, Aug. 5

12:54 a.m.: Dean Street. Caller reported male acting suspicious across the street from his residence. Area checked.

8:34 a.m.: Barrows Street. Resident requested extra patrols. Claims neighborhood kids are scratching her vehicle.

11:17 a.m.: Acre Road. Caller reported being harassed by another party via text message. Advised of options.

12:51 p.m.: Plain Street. Caller reported a large plant was taken from her families’ graves site last week and this week a small dog was taken off the gravestone. She contacted the Cemetery Department already.

2:22 p.m.: Renwick Drive. Caller requested an officer to assist with harassment issue with her neighbor and 12-year-old son.

6:24 p.m.: South Washington Street. Caller reported house was robbed. Missing jewelry.

Saturday, Aug. 6

8:48 a.m.: Plain Street. Police attempted to notify yard sale goers to park on same side of street.

12:54 p.m.: Codding Road. Caller reported small area next to her garage was smoldering. Appeared to be a carelessly discarded cigarette. Extra patrols requested.

1:26 p.m.: Walk-in to station requests extra patrols on Bay Road due to speeding cars.

8:03 p.m.: Harvey Street. Caller reported intoxicated male left her residence in an older green Jeep Wrangler. Officers report to scene.

11:13 p.m.: Caller reported hearing gunshot coming from the area of Balfour Farm. Nothing found.

Sunday, Aug. 7

9:57 a.m.: Cobb Street. Walk-in at station. Woman reported daughter receiving harassing phone calls from boyfriend. Suspect advised of his options and of her wishes for him to stop contacting her. He agreed.

10:08 a.m.: Taunton Avenue. Manager requested escort off premises due to employees picketing because of strike. Vehicle left without incident. Strikers will be at location every day until it is resolved.

11:25 a.m.: Crane Street. Branches in the roadway in the area of the bridge. Removed.

12:04 p.m.: Mayflower Road. Caller said he heard his belongings were on front lawn. Discarded by ex-girlfriend. Asked for assistance. Mirrors, some buckets, paint found.

1:46 p.m.: Plain Street. Mailbox reported stolen. 11:01 p.m.: Wilbur Terrace. Possible underage drinking party reported. Cleared out.

Monday, Aug. 8

3:52 a.m.: West Main Street. Caller reported hearing someone yelling help. No one found.

9:04 a.m.: West Main Street. Officer requested for a report of vandalism to the ATM machine over the weekend. Maintenance to come assist.

2:08 p.m.: West Main Street. Walk-in reported shed appears to have been broken into.

8:16 p.m.: Old Meeting House. Caller reported male just came to her door attempting to sell magazine subscriptions. Advised.

Tuesday, Aug. 9

1:30 a.m.: Hastings Way. Police arrested Brian Harvey, 41, of Brockton, and charged him with operating with suspended license.

8:24 a.m.: Reservoir Street. Walk-in reported that she thinks neighbor is following her around. Advised of rights regarding harrassment prevention order.

9:09 a.m.: Whites Ave. Caller reported that a female from town has a key to her residence and keeps going there. Caller advised .

10:06 a.m.: Power Street. Caller reported break-in & entry sometime overnight. Officer reported vandalism. Someone threw a cinder block through a rear window.

5 p.m.: Mansfield Avenue. Caller stated that she is out of town and neighbor called to tell her that someone may be breaking into her house and they may have a gun. Individuals check. Permission to be there by homeowners.

6:11 p.m.: Maple Street. Police arrested Joseph Barry, 23, of Woonsocket, and charged him with speeding, operating with a suspended license.

6:27 p.m.: West Main Street. Caller reported group of subjects harassing a bicyclist. Parties advised.

10:49 p.m.: Cross Street. Caller reported house was egged. Advised to call right away next time.

Wednesday, Aug. 10

8:54 a.m.: Old Colony Road. Caller reporting customer dropped cash on counter and next customer took it and left. Customer reports it was over $100. Caller states they have it on video.

10:44 a.m.: Cobb Street. Officer reported stop sign at North Washington has been struck. Highway Dept advised.

5:35 p.m.: Mansfield Avenue. Minor car accident. Report taken.

9:54 p.m.: Mansfield Avenue. Police arrested Suzanne Gwynn, 55, of Norton and charged her with shoplifting.

Thursday, Aug. 11

7:46 a.m.: Taunton Avenue. Male reported hiding behind fence at Verizon building. Officers on scene.

5:40 p.m.: Bay Road. Caller reported copper was stripped from the vacant residence. Detective notified.

8:51 p.m.: Mayflower Road. Female into station reported she has been harassed by her ex boyfriend. Files statement.

Friday, Aug. 12

5:36 p.m.: East Main Street. Caller stated her and her husband are moving out and the landlord is harassing them. Belongings removed. Advised of options.

11:47 p.m.: Cross Street. Caller reported subjects on foot threw fireworks at his residence. Subjects not found.
