Police Log: Driver Charged with OUI After Motor Vehicle Crash

Excerpts from the Norton Police Department log.

Friday, Oct. 31

At 7:34 p.m., police reported a suspicious male party, who appeared to be intoxicated, was walking around by himself and approaching kids on Keith Drive. He was reported as a white male, about 6 feet tall and wearing a baseball hat, flannel jacket and work boots. Police could not locate the suspect.

At 9:01 p.m., police arrested Dennis Alan Alexander, 30, 1 Bluebird Lane of Grafton, for assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, malicious destruction of property of less than $250, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and possession of a Class E substance. Alexander threatened to cause damage to a door on West Main Street and also caused damages to the the glasses and pants of two police officers.

Saturday, Nov. 1

At 9:02 a.m., police reported vandalism in which all four tires were slashed on a vehicle on Mansfield Avenue.

At 5:09 p.m., police reported vandalism in which a mailbox was stolen on Freeman Street.

Sunday, Nov. 2

At 1:18 a.m., police arrested Grover H. Welch, Jr., 23, 7 Howard Ave. of Attleboro, for a marked lanes violation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating under the influence of liquor. Welch was involved in a two-car motor vehicle crash on Mansfield Avenue.

At 9:19 a.m., police reported a motor vehicle accident with injuries in which a vehicle was removed from a tree on Eddy Street. The vehicle was towed.

At 11:47 p.m., police reported larceny from a yard on Dean Street.

Monday, Nov. 3

At 2:44 p.m., police reported fraud and embezzlement on East Main Street.

At 3:17 p.m., police reported a general disturbance in which a property owner requested an officer regarding a dispute between him and a tenant regarding missing property on Lincoln Street. The tenant was not at the residence. The Board of Health was also notified due to excessive amounts of materials inside the residence.

At 7:29 p.m., police reported an unresponsive 25-year-old male with a possible drug overdose on South Washington Street. A caller reported someone administered narcan and the subject began breathing and was taken to the hospital.

At 8:54 p.m., police reported a motor vehicle accident with property damage in which a deer was struck by a vehicle on John Scott Boulevard.
