Rep. Howitt Announces Internship Opportunities

State Representative Steven Howitt to offer internships for the fall semester.

State Representative Steven S. Howitt (R- Seekonk) has announced that his office is now offering internships for the 2011 fall semester to college juniors and seniors.   

Students will gain experience working in state government and handle a variety of projects ranging from constituent and municipal cases to policy research and analysis. Students will also have the opportunity to work and attend events at the State House and throughout the 4th Bristol district.

 Scheduled to begin Sept. 12, the internship program is designed to work around the student’s course schedule and will provide not only experience in government, but in a professional setting where students will develop business communication skills and an opportunity to expand their network of contacts.

 Students of all academic concentrations are encouraged to apply, however an interest in government is required. Internships are unpaid but college credits may be earned.

 Students from the 4th Bristol District (Seekonk, Swansea, Rehoboth, Norton) are preferred, but not required. Applicants must have strong written and oral communication skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
