Splish Splash Science
A science storytime for children ages 3-8. In this four-week series, we will try a different experiment with water and other liquids each week, share a new story, and make a craft to take home. Parent participation is required. These events may get a little messy, so they will take place outside in the library park when weather allows, or on tarps in the community room when weather is inclement.
July 11: Use Your Noodle! (In this session, participants will explore flotation using soda and pasta.)
July 18: Does it Float? (Participants practice prediction and explore flotation in water of everyday objects.)
July 25: Motion of the Ocean (Children will discover the idea of density by creating their own oceans in bottles.--Please bring your own clean clear plastic bottle--like a water bottle--with label removed.)
August 1: Salt and Pepper (Two spicy experiments introduce the concept of surface tension and reinforce the idea of density.)
Registration is required as space is limited. Sign-up sheets will be available in the front of the library 2 weeks prior to the event. Library staff cannot take registrations by phone or e-mail.
