Norton Summer Concerts Almost Here!

The line-up includes regular favorites and some new, impressive groups that all should enjoy.

Don’t let summer go by this year without experiencing a warm summer evening in the Norton Library Park, listening to old-time favorites, and some new groups as well.

 Once again, the town is offering its Summer Concert Series, starting on Tuesday, July 12, and continuing each Tuesday until Aug. 9.

The five concerts are being sponsored by a group of local businesses, and some town organizations, including The Friends of the Library and the Norton Cultural Center. They all take place at 7 p.m.

So grab some chairs and savor those summertime nights that go so quickly, with some first-rate music that can entertain all.

 July 12—Java Jive.   The trio  is one of the all-time favorites, playing two trumpets, one trombone, keyboards, and vocals.  They can play almost anything that spans through decades of pop culture, including swing,  Motown, disco, classic rock, soft rock, and r & b.  Young and old are bound to love this group.  Sponsored by  North Easton Savings Bank.   

 July 19 – Yankee Notions.  They are another popular group that is bound to charm adults and fascinate children.  The two musicians play an amazing array of instruments, including guitar, harmonic, hammered dulcimer and pennywhistle (and if you don’t know what the latter two are, it’s worth a visit to see!)  The performance ties in with the library’s summer world travel theme, bringing songs from Scotland, England, Peru, Puerto Rico, Canada and Ireland.  Come see this unique group that takes brings a flair of New England Folk tradition.   Sponsored by The Norton Cultural Council and the Friends of the Library.

July 26 – Joe Esposito Trio (new).  Enjoy the mellow sound of the Joe Esposito Trio, who play the saxophone, flute, electric bass guitar, guitar synthesizer and vocals.  Joe is a well-know performer, who plays throughout New England and New York City.  The group plays selections from some of the country’s best performers, including Tony Bennett, Henry Mancini, Mike Metheny, The Temptations, Aretha Franklin and Wayne Brady.  Sponsored by Roche Brothers.

Aug. 2 - GQ and the Lady Trio (new).  From Hollywood and Broadway themes, to Roaring 20's and Speakeasy sass, GQ and the Lady delivers that special 'WOW' factor.  Their repertoire will thrill young and old, including songs by ultra-popular artists such as Alicia Keys, Jason Mraz, Natalie Cole, Black Eyed Peas, Michael Buble and the Beatles.  Sponsored by Norton Medical Center.

Aug. 9 – Peter and Ellen Allard.  This award-winning duo is back with another high-energy family concert full of easy-to-sing songs and chants.  Their lively performance is bound to get lots of crowd participation, for an extra fun time.  If you haven't seen them before, make sure to mark your calendars for this visit - and check out their cds from the library so you'll be ready to sing along!  Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
