Superintendent of Norton Public Schools Announces Retirement
Retirement effective at the end of her contract, Aug. 28.
Superintendent Dr. Patricia Ansay announced her retirement at Monday’s School Committee meeting. Her retirement is effective at the end of her contract, Aug. 28.
“She doesn’t expect employees to work any harder than she does,” said Committee Member Beth McManus said. “I can honestly say that I’ve never, in any of my various work experiences, come across a harder working individual.
“I am sad for the Town of Norton and the Norton Public School but happy for Pat who will be embarking on a whole new journey that I hope involves lots of rest.”

Earlier at the meeting, McManus acknowledged Ansay for her devotion to Norton Public Schools by attending every school event possible.
“I have always put children first and hope that I have made a difference in their lives,” wrote Ansay in a letter to the School Committee. “I have given Norton my ‘all.’”

Over the past few years, Norton Public Schools, like many schools in the area, have faced budget issues. Members of the School Committee commended Ansay for her role in that.
“You know that old cliche ‘You can’t get blood from a stone?’ Look at our budget from the last five years. She’s gotten a lot of blood out of the tones around here,” said Committee Member Tom Golota. He also added that she takes the time to get to know the students and staff.
“I consider her not only a superintendent but I consider her a good friend and confidant. And I wish her nothing but the best,” Golota said.
Ansay says that she hopes to travel and improve her handicap in golf.
“I will help with the transition. I’ve put a lot of heart and soul into this. I hope it goes smoothly,” Ansay said at the end of the meeting.
“I hope I have made a difference in my time here.”
