Supermoon, Year's Largest Moon, To Appear in Norton Sunday

Here's what you need to know about this weekend's supermoon.

Skywatchers and stargazers might want to look up this weekend for one ofΒ the biggest celestial events of the year.Β 

The largest supermoon of the year, also known as the perigeeΒ moon, will peak today .Β 

The event occurs whenΒ a fullmoonΒ lines up with the Earth and the sunΒ at a specific point in its orbit, according toΒ The Huffington Post. ThemoonΒ will appear 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter.Β

Another supermoon will appear in July; however, themoonΒ will not be this close to earth again until August 2014.Β TheΒ moonΒ will become fullΒ Sunday at 7:32 a.m.Β and visible again after sunset.Β
