Suspect in House Break-ins Caught

Norton police arrested Jeffrey Andrews Tuesday afternoon, after receiving a report of a break in.

At approximately 2:40 p.m., a resident of Taunton Avenue stated to police that she believed someone might have broken into her home.  When she arrived, she noticed a package on the front step had been opened and a bicycle not belonging to the residents beside the front door. Officers searched the exterior and interior of the residence and found no one inside or in the neighborhood.

As officers canvassed the area, they observed a window screen removed in a neighboring house. Officers then observed a male exiting a second floor window at the residence. Officers placed Andrews, 26, of Lincoln Street, Stoughton, under arrest.

Patrolman John Chmielinski made the arrest and was assisted by sergeant Jon Goodwin, patrolman Marc Robichaud, detective lieutenant Thomas Petersen Jr., detective Jeffrey Zaccardi and detective James Franco.

Andrews is charged with breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony and over $250 in malicious destruction of property. He is being held on $5,000 cash bail at the .
