Taunton School Threat: 16-Year-Old Girl Arrested For Note

Police said a high school student wrote the note that caused two schools to close Tuesday.

TAUNTON, MA β€” A 16-year-old girl was arrested Wednesday and charged with writing a threatening note that prompted the closing of two Taunton schools Tuesday. The girl allegedly left the note in the bathroom of the high school, police said.

The girl, a student at Taunton High, will not be identified because of her age. The high school and a middle school were closed after the note was found.

The girl was charged with threats to a school causing evacuation and public alarm.

Police said a high school employee found the note Monday and reported it to administrators, who told police. Because the note was directed at Taunton High and mentioned Tuesday's date, school was canceled at the high school and Parker Middle School. Both school reopened Wednesday.

The girl will be arraigned at Taunton Juvenile Court at a later date.
