2011 is the Year of the Rabbit and Wheaton students rang in the new year with cultural traditions from Asia.

Wheaton College's Asian American Coalition hosted their annual Lunar New Year celebration (this year being the Year of the Rabbit) today at the campus' Balfour Hood Center.  Students and visitors celebrated Asian cultures and traditions. The atrium was decorated with colorful paper lanterns and tables with interactive displays representing Japan, China and other Asian countries.

The celebration began at noon and continued until 5 p.m. Festivities included a Chinese buffet, games, karaoke, an origami crafts table, calligraphy, a raffle and students wearing traditional clothing from Asians countries.
