As a commercial real estate broker, I've had the opportunity to represent nearly eight buildings in downtown Norwood. Two recent additions, Town Common Books and Allstate Insurance, highlight why business owners are choosing Washington Street.
Norwood resident Laura Messina founded Town Common Books to create more than an independent bookstore. Her vision includes author events, workshops, and a welcoming gathering place for the community.
"As a Norwood resident, I wanted to open Town Common Books downtown because I noticed the lack of a store like this in the area," Laura explained.
The storefront also has a long history of women-owned businesses, a tradition Laura is proud to continue.
Grand Opening: Sunday, November 1, 2026. The celebration will include raffles, children's activities, and giveaways.

Just across the street, Zachary Vaswani recently opened his Allstate insurance agency, bringing home, auto, and life insurance services to downtown Norwood.
"When looking at towns we wanted a place with an active community," Zach explained, highlighting Norwood's Farmers Market, restaurants, and local events.
His agency emphasizes personalized service, including individual policy renewal reviews and direct access to his team rather than a call center.
Zach is already getting involved in the community, participating in the Thursday Farmers Market, raffling Celtics tickets, and even playing Connect 4 with residents.
"We're looking to really grow our presence in the community," he said.

Having worked with numerous property owners and businesses throughout downtown Norwood, I'm excited that DMG Brokerage will also be relocating to 681 Washington Street in December 2026.
A thriving downtown depends on businesses investing in their community, supporting their neighbors, and creating reasons for people to visit.
I'm looking forward to being part of that continued growth.
