NORWOOD, MA — Norwood welcomed two new officers to its police department this week.
Officers Jesse Fleming and Nick Spadorcia, who are both Norwood natives, were sworn in on Monday by Town Clerk Mary Lou Folan during a ceremony in the Community Room at Norwood Police Headquarters, the department announced Thursday. Both officers will now enter the department's required Field Training Officer program.
During the program, Fleming and Spadorcia will work alongside experienced Norwood officers who will instruct them on department policies, procedures and job responsibilities while helping them become familiar with patrol duties.
Both officers grew up in Norwood and are looking forward to serving their hometown, according to the department.
"As Norwood natives, both officers are especially excited for the opportunity to serve the community they grew up in and give back to the town they call home," the Norwood Police Department wrote in its Thursday announcement. "Please join us in welcoming Officers Spadorcia and Flemming to NPD."
