13 Arrested In Joint Investigation Of North Shore Opioid Ring

Police from Beverly, Danvers, Lynn and Peabody joined DEA agents, the AG's office and State Police in the investigation.

PEABODY, MA -- Five people from Peabody were among the 13 arrested by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies as part of a joint-investigation that brought down what officials are describing as a major opioid distribution ring on the North Shore. Authorities seized nearly 2.5 kilograms of heroin and fentanyl, 1,900 pills and $415,000 in cash on Monday, as well as an additional 95 grams of fentanyl and 1,100 pills during the course of the investigation.

The joint investigation was headed by the Attorney General's Enterprise, Major and Cyber Crime Division, and included Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team and the AG’s Office, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Lynn, Beverly, Danvers and Peabody Police Departments.

"Heroin, fentanyl and oxycodone continue to cause hundreds of deadly overdoses across our state each year," Attorney General Maura Healey said. "My office is committed to working with our partners in law enforcement to disrupt the trafficking networks that distribute these drugs onto our streets and into our communities."
