- Today's weather: Areas of frost before 7 a.m., but otherwise sunny with a high near 54. degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
- PVMHS sports today: The Tanners' baseball club heads to Gloucester while the softball team travels down to Winthrop. Tennis is at home today with the boys against Somerville and the girls taking on Saugus, and girls' lacrosse hosts Salem while the boys head to Beverly. All varsity games are scheduled for 4 p.m.
- Best Mother's Day brunch: Our Best of Patch Readers' Choice poll this week is on -- where do you love to go each year in Peabody? Voting is open until 9 a.m. Friday.
- Student-run car show: is putting on a car show this Thursday. The first ever student-run Spring Car Show aims to celebrate the love of cars and promote safe driving habits at the same time. Students can register their car, truck or motorcycle that they own and operate for $5 and all proceeds will benefit the Healthy Peabody Collaborative and its efforts to promote safe driving awareness in the community. There will be trophies for the “Best Overall” winners and plaques for winners in specialized categories, including "People’s Choice" and "Best Sound System." The Lyon-Waugh Auto Group is the main sponsor of the event. The show is May 3 from 2-4 p.m. (rain date of May 10). Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend. - The City Council and School Committee will covene in a special joint session Thursday at 7 p.m. at to review . The plans are the same ones that were presented to the public las week.
