Rachel Kaprielian, who heads up the RMV, said as the state Department of Transportation transitions its offices over to the new number and system, it will actually net a savings of about $422,000 on the annual phone bill and maintenance. MassDOT is replacing antique and redundant telecom systems for the RMV, Turnpike, MassHighway and Executive Office of Transportation.
