5 Things You Need to Know Today, Aug. 9

Today is Thursday, Aug. 9. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. City crews will be paving Pulaski Street today between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. No parking will be allowed on street during that time and detours will be in place for traffic headed toward Danvers. One lane will be open for traffic coming from Danvers to Wilson Square.
  2. The summer reading program for adults at the runs until Aug. 31, and you have the opportunity . Check it out.
  3. If you're interested in seeing Irish singing sensation Tommy Fleming in concert this September for the International Festival,  for either performance.
  4. Don't forget about the "Ultimate Red Sox Experience" with Haven from Hunger this summer. The pantry is running a raffle fundraiser, and the lucky winner gets to celebrate Fenway Park's 100th anniversary at the historic stadium. The grand prize, "The Ultimate Red Sox Experience," includes two pavilion level seats to see the Red Sox play the Blue Jays on Sept. 9, dinner at the Shawmut Pavilion, a pre-game on-field experience and a visit to the Red Sox Hall of Fame. The drawing date is Aug. 20.
