- The heat wave is on its way out. According to the National Weather Service, today's high is only expected to be 89 degrees, and with some possible showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Temperatures are predicted to dip to the low 80s or high 70s for the rest of the week.
- The American Red Cross will be holding a community blood drive sponsored by the today between 1 and 6 p.m. at the at 85 Lowell St. The Red Cross says there's an emergency need for blood and platelets of all blood types. You can book an appointment by calling 800-733-2767.
- Peabody Rotary reports it's moving its Thursday morning breakfast meetings over to Red's Kitchen & Tavern at 131 Newbury St. Rotary meets every week at 7:30 a.m. and new members are always welcome.
- Time for a reunion: The Peabody High School Class of 1977 will be celebrating its 35th class reunion at the on Aug. 4 from 7 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $50 per person and includes appetizers, music, networking and a pasta bar. Rooms have also been reserved at a special rate for class members. - Looking for a temporary job? The Topsfield Fair is hosting a job fair this Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. - noon in Coolidge Hall at the Topsfield Fairgrounds for temporary help at this year’s fair, which runs from Sept. 28 to Oct. 8. Openings include admissions, parking, security and information booth personnel.
