5 Things You Need to Know Today, June 29
Here's what you need to know to get your weekend started in Peabody.
Today is Friday, June 29. Here are five thing to know today in Peabody.
- Peabody Rotary needs your help: Do you know any of the people in this undated photograph of a Peabody Rotary meeting many years ago? If you can help identify any of the individuals, send the picture with the person (or people) circled and named to Herb Harris, P. O. Box 3363, Peabody, MA 01961 or email h_harris@smallbizpros.com. Harris says Peabody Rotary has had a recent growth spurt with several new members and is looking to add more. For more information, contact Membership Chair Martha Holden at holden@noblenet.org.
- The weekend weather forecast: Chance of showers and thunderstorms later this afternoon, but otherwise partly sunny with a high near 92 degrees. More of the same early this evening with a low around 65. Saturday should be sunny with a high near 93 and some wind -- the low for the evening is 68 degrees. And on Sunday, slight chance of more showers and thunderstorms, but mostly sunny with a high near 89 degrees and dipping to around 66 for the night.
- Celebrating the Fourth: next week with parades, races, games, free food and more.
- Check out this guide to (Peabody does not put on any displays of its own).
- celebrates the Fourth a bit early, today, in fact. Staff and residents will put on a parade, starting at 11:30 a.m. “Seven years ago we had our first parade and there were 22 marchers," says Gayle Hills, Customer Service Manager at Brooksby Village. “Every year we try to add a few new items to the parade line up. This year we have over 40 participants including a bagpiper, Mrs. Essex County, Girl Scouts, a dog parade and Peabody cheerleaders. People who live and work here and their families all come to watch the parade. It’s a great event.”
