Today is Wednesday, May 30. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.
- Today's weather: Chance of showers, but otherwise clearing up with a high near 77 degrees.
- Science awards: and the will host the annual fifth grade science fair awards tonight at 7 pm. at PVMHS in the school auditorium.
- Playoff baseball: Both Peabody High and Bishop Fenwick baseball are in the postseason. The Tanners (16-6) are seeded No. 5 in Division I North and get a bye to start off the tournament Saturday (4 p.m.), hosting the winner of the Lynn English/Waltham game Friday. Meanwhile, the Crusaders in Division III North are seeded 12th (10-10) and play at No. 5 Newburyport (15-5) in the first round Thursday (4 p.m.).
- Softball in tourney: The Peabody High girls are in the playoffs as well, as the softball team prepares for a preliminary round game in Andover tomorrow (3:15 p.m.). If the Tanners win, they would go on to play Masconomet in Topsfield on June 2. The MIAA released the playoff seedings yesterday.
- 'Downloading Free eBooks and Audiobooks': The will host the lecture, “Downloading Free eBooks and Audiobooks,” on June 5 from 10-11 a.m. The program is geared toward anyone in need of help with a new electronic book or file.
