5 Things You Need to Know Today, May 8
News on Red's, Brooksby Farm, spring musical and a book sale. Oh yes, and watch out for possible flooding tonight.

Today is Tuesday, May 8. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.
- Today's weather: Showers and a high near 59 degrees. The National Weather Service says that due to "very high astronomical tides" tonight and heavier downpours, there is a small potential at this time for flooding in urban and poor drainage areas.
- Progress for Red's: Red's Kitchen & Tavern is getting closer and closer to opening its doors -- no official word yet on a date --and yesterday, the restaurant launched its own Facebook page, offering the public a sneak peak inside the new Route 1 eatery.
- Down on the farm: The staff over at says the greenhouse will open for the season on May 17 with hanging flowers, vegetable seedlings and herbs for sale. Spring hours are Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. And in the meantime, stop by anytime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily to cart away fresh compost if you need it. There will be a free pile for Peabody residents just off the parking lot through May.
- 'Legally Blonde': Stage One at is preparing for opening night on Thursday for its The show is at 7 p.m., which is also student discount night, and there will be two more shows Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. as well. Tickets are $12 and $10 for students on Thursday night only.
- Book sale Saturday: The Friends of the Peabody Institute Library will hold a small book sale at the this Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The book sale will be held in the Young Adult Room. In addition to books, the Friends will sell geraniums and impatiens, book bags, mugs and note cards that feature library images. All proceeds benefit library programs.
