5 Things You Need to Know Today, Sept. 28

Here's what you need to know to get your weekend started.

Today is Friday, Sept. 28. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. Free coffee today at 7-Eleven: Fall has arrived and 7-Eleven stores everywhere, including those in Peabody, are giving away a free 20 ounce Cup of Joe to each customer today from 6-10 a.m. If you'd like to check locations specifically, you can download timeRAZOR, a free app for your iPhone or Android. The app will show the closest participating 7-Eleven to your home, work or current location.
  2. Turn in your drugs Saturday: Take your expired or unused prescription drugs down to the police station on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to safely dispose of them and celebrate National Drug Take Back Day.
  3. Saturday is also National Coffee Day. Stay tuned for more details on local shops celebrating the holiday for caffeine addicts.
  4. Topsfield Fair: The country's oldest fair opens today at 1 p.m. on the Topsfield fairgrounds on Route 1. The fair runs until Oct. 8.
  5. Did you catch the results of this past spring's SATs and MCAS exams for Peabody students? We also reported on how well Peabody compares to North Shore high schools on the SAT and how elementary pupils did on the MCAS.
