North Shore Students Earn National Honors In French Contest

PEABODY, MA — Several Bishop Fenwick students in its French program earned recognition on the National French Contest, known as "Le Grand Concours," a national exam that measures French language proficiency and understanding of Francophone culture.

The Peabody school announced honors for students across multiple exam levels, with recipients coming from Essex, Everett, Danvers, Beverly, Gloucester, Peabody, Salem, Bradford and Middleton.

Students are recognized at a range of levels based on their performance relative to peers nationwide, and additional students can earn Honorable Mention for results just outside the top tiers.

This national exam brings together students from across the country to demonstrate their proficiency in the French language and their understanding of Francophone culture.

In Level 2, Felix Langlois of Essex earned Médaille d’argent, listed as the 85th to 94th percentile and ranking fourth in the nation.

In Level 1, Andrea Butler of Everett, Jackson Nikitas of Danvers and Elise Reed of Beverly earned Médaille de bronze, listed as the 75th to 84th percentile and ranking 10th in the nation.

Sophia Poto of Danvers also earned Médaille de bronze in Level 2.

Students who received Mention d’Honneur, listed as the 50th to 74th percentile, were Lilliana DiMercurio of Gloucester, Liana Lazure and Sarah Perkins of Peabody, and Michael Santiago of Salem in Level 1.

In Level 2, Katie Kelley of Bradford and Zach Sordillo of Peabody were recognized.

Amanda Moric of Danvers earned Mention d'Honneur in Level 3, and Allie Casamassima of Middleton was recognized in Level 4.

The school said the results reflect "not only academic excellence, but also the curiosity, discipline, and commitment our students bring to their learning each day."

"We congratulate all who participated and are especially proud of those who earned national recognition," the school said.
