"Extreme heat can be dangerous, and it's important that residents take steps to stay safe," said Peabody Mayor Bettencourt.

Peabody cooling centers include the Torigian Senior Center located at 79 Central Street, as well as the Main, West, and South branches of the Peabody Institute Library.

The Senior Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. Residents should contact the Library directly for branch hours.

The Peabody Public Health Department encourages everyone to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, check on elderly neighbors, and make sure pets remain indoors and cool.
