Peabody Central Street Traffic Detours Set For This Week

PEABODY, MA — Those traveling through Peabody will deal with more detours and road closures on Central Street next week as MDR Construction begins work between Elm Street and Warren Street.

The work is scheduled for Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Access for emergency vehicles and local traffic will be maintained whenever possible.

Outbound traffic traveling from Peabody Center toward Wilson Square will be detoured off Central Street. Drivers will turn left onto Warren Street and then right onto Endicott Street to reach Wilson Square.

Inbound traffic traveling from Wilson Square toward Peabody Center will remain free-flowing during the project.

Some side streets will also be affected during the work.

Traffic traveling on Warren Street toward Central Street will be detoured at Crowninshield Street toward Lowell Street.

Warren Street will be closed at Crowninshield Street, and "Local Traffic Only" signs will be installed so residents can still reach their homes and businesses.

Tremont Street will also be closed at Wallis Street for vehicles heading toward Central Street.

Peabody detail officers will be stationed at Lowell Street and Endicott Street, one at Endicott Street and Warren Street, one at Tremont Street and Harris Street, two at Tremont Street and Central Street, and three within the MDR Construction work zone.
