PEABODY, MA — A fundraiser to benefit the VFW in Peabody is scheduled for Saturday at the post at 20 Stevens Street, with a motorcycle ride, food, raffles and a DJ planned for the day.
The Defenders law enforcement motorcycle club and the VFW are hosting the fundraiser. Registration starts at 9 a.m. at the VFW, and "kickstands up" is set for 11 a.m. Donations are listed as $25 for a rider and $10 for a passenger or walk-in. That covers entry to the event for food and the chance to buy raffle tickets.
All proceeds will go to the VFW in Peabody. The goal is to support veterans and help keep the VFW open for veterans and families.
The Texas Roadhouse will bring pulled pork and rolls, and D'Orsi's donated a cake. Pizza from Gallo Nero and Ramzi's will be available while it lasts, and hot dogs and burgers are also planned.
A long list of raffle items and gift cards are available, with donations from local businesses and organizations across the North Shore.
Those items include gift cards, family passes, baskets and restaurant prizes from businesses including Dick's Sporting Goods, YMCA, Brooksby Farm, Crack'd Kitchen, Village Silversmith, Bell Inn and Tavern, Daniella's, Granite Coast Brewery, Ramzi's, Toscana Forno and Texas Roadhouse.
Nautical Nutrition is expected to set up at 11:15 a.m. and donate a percentage of its proceeds to the VFW.
The fundraiser is open to riders, passengers and walk-ins.
