PEABODY, MA — A driver was taken to the hospital with a "large open chest wound" after a pole flew off a truck, smashed through the vehicle's windshield, impaling the driver with a piece of metal on Route 95 north in Peabody early Friday afternoon, according to multiple emergency services reports.
Northeast Massachusetts Emergency Services reported that the metal impaled the driver through the chest.
Other emergency services reports said the victim was suffering from a "large open chest wound" and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.
The incident happened near the Route 114 interchange in Peabody.
