PEABODY, MA — Six local leaders who dedicated their lives to making a profound, lasting impact on the Peabody school system and the lives of their students will be honored with the George Peabody Legacy Award at a City Hall ceremony next month.
The Legacy Award is designed to recognize and honor exceptional educators and philanthropists from within the community.
In the classroom, these honorees serve as both passionate learners and facilitators of knowledge, according to the PEA.
"They go above and beyond to support the social, emotional, and academic needs of every individual child, creating progressive learning environments where students can truly thrive," the PEA said. "Even as the landscape of modern education continuously evolves, Peabody's teachers and community members consistently rise to the challenge —proving that an outstanding education extends far beyond textbooks and academics."
This year's George Peabody Legacy Award Recipients are Mary Bellevance, Maria Branquinho (posthumous), Mary Henry, Dr. Mark Higgin, Dr. Herbert Levine, and Christine Zuppio
The awards ceremony will take place at the Frank L. Wiggin Auditorium inside Peabody City Hall on Oct. 14 at 6 p.m.
