'Be The Light, Inspire Change' Jason's Legacy Walk To Spur Kindness In Peabody Community
The walk is in memory of the Peabody eighth-grader who took his own life after his family said he was the victim of bullying.
PEABODY, MA — The Jason's Legacy Foundation will host the second annual Jason's Legacy 5K Walk designed to "Be The Light, Inspire Change" in memory of Peabody eighth-grader Jason Benard, who took his own life after his family said he was a victim of bullying.
The event is set for Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Brown Middle School in Peabody.
"Let's continue Jason Bernard's legacy and join together as a community to raise awareness around bullying prevention, mental health, and the power of kindness," organizers said.

The walk is designed to honor students who have ever felt alone, families that have experienced loss and to raise awareness about bullying, inclusion, mental health, kindness, and the importance of speaking up when someone is hurting.
This year's theme is "Be The Light, Inspire Change" — with the T-shirt logo including a candle that represents hope, kindness and the power to make a difference in someone's life, and the hands representing connection, responsibility, community and Jason's Legacy.
