Business Owners Meet at City Hall

Mayor Bettencourt and the Peabody Area Chamber hosted a Meet & Greet for business leaders as part of National "Small Business Week" earlier this week.  The event, attended by 100 local businesses, provided the opportunity to meet key staff at city hall and open a dialogue for conversation.   Everyone from Police and Fire to building inspectors and purchasing were available.    In addition, the Chamber provided a short presentation on resources available to help small businesses and support a strong local economy.

So, how exactly does the Peabody Area Chamber help businesses?  Research points out that consumers are more likely to do business with a company if it’s a member of their local chamber of commerce.  Businesses that join are considered to have a vested interest in their community and are not a fly by night operation.  Our online business directory alone averages thousands of hits per week.  These are people looking specifically for a business located in our coverage area.  They are not shopping, they are not googling, they are looking specifically for a local business.

Owning a business, especially a small business owner.  In most cases they have a passion for their product or service, but they also need to be the marketing director, human resource manager, webmaster, accountant and more.

Which is why the Peabody Area Chamber offers FREE business counseling available on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. So whether you are just thinking about starting a business or have questions about an existing business, this coaching session with experts from the Small Business Development Center can provide help with anything from writing a business plan, seeking financing, marketing issues and even benchmarking your results against other business in the same field.
