Celebrate Historic Boston Light at the South Branch Library

Join us for a fascinating talk about the 300-year history of Boston Light and Little Brewster Island at the South Branch

Join us for a “stay-cation” as the South Branch welcomes the Coast Guard Auxiliary for a presentation on historic Boston Light. Boston Light is located on Little Brewster Island at the entrance of Boston Harbor. It is the last, manned Coast Guard Light Station in the country, being a way-shower for safe navigation in Boston Harbor since 1716. Little Brewster Island is one of 34 islands and peninsulas that comprise the Boston Harbor Islands National State Park.

This program will include pictures and history of the historic light house continuously manned for 300 years presented by the experts who help keep it running. Attendees will also be able to learn about the leisure activities that are available on Little Brewster Island, a great spot for a last-minute summer day trip!

This program is free and open to the public and will take place at the South Branch of the Peabody Institute Library, located at 78 Lynn St on August 4th at 7PM. Space is limited and registration is required. For more information or to reserve your free spot, please go to www.peabodylibrary.org, call 978-531-3380 or stop by in person.
