Covenant Christian Academy Appoints New Head of School

Covenant Christian Academy's Board of Directors unanimously approved the appointment of Andrea Bergstrom as Covenant's next Head of School

PEABODY, MA - Covenant Christian Academy’s Board of Directors unanimously approved the appointment of Andrea Bergstrom as Covenant’s next Head of School, effective immediately. In accepting the academy's highest leadership post, Mrs. Bergstrom will be the third Head of School in the 25-year history of Covenant Christian Academy. The Board’s unanimous decision follows Andrea’s successful term as Interim Head of School.

“The Board has been impressed by Andrea's leadership abilities, her work ethic, and her commitment to the Covenant community,” said, Dr. Ryan Plosker, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “Over the last year, Andrea has met and exceeded all of the strategic goals we set forth for her, and under her leadership, Covenant has experienced significant growth in enrollment. We have heard nothing but praise from parents, faculty and staff on her genuine care for the students and families of CCA.”

Andrea brings more than 25 years of teaching and administrative experience to this new role. A 1989 graduate of Gordon College with degrees in both Psychology and Sociology, Andrea received her Masters Degree in Education from Lesley University. She began her career as an early childhood classroom teacher in the Newton Public Schools, and was invited to join the faculty at Covenant Christian Academy in 2004. After 6 years of classroom teaching, Andrea was promoted to Grammar School Principal, a role that she has been successfully serving in for the past 7 years.

“For me, teaching and school leadership is far more than a profession, it is a hobby and a passion,” Andrea reflected. “It is a distinct privilege to be afforded the opportunity to combine faith and learning in a professional environment. I chose CCA for my children 14 years ago because I believed it embodied all I was looking for in a school. As a discerning parent and educator, I was thrilled to have found a school that could educate my children with academic excellence while nurturing their spiritual development. This began an unanticipated, yet wildly rewarding professional journey that brought me to a place of clarity in my own educational philosophy and certainty in my support of Christian and Classical education. I continue to believe that this is the best recipe for holistic success in PK-12 education.”

Andrea was raised in Reading, Massachusetts, and resides there still with her family; husband Eric, and son Hunter. Her daughter, Emma, attends a private college near Chicago.

“Over the past 13 years, Andrea has demonstrated the strength of character, the passion for education, and the professionalism that we sought in a Head of School. We are confident she brings a keen understanding of the complexities and strategies necessary to lead our private school for many years to come” Dr. Plosker remarked.
