Curious Creatures Take Over Brooksby Village

Residents and their families take a walk on the wild side on Saturday afternoon.

Ten Curious Creatures made their way into the Brooksby Village on Saturday afternoon.  Two snakes, an alligator, a lizard, a hedgehog, a gecko, a tortoise, a skunk and a tarantula invaded the Erickson community, making some the residents a little squeamish.

The sometimes cute, sometimes creepy creatures didn’t crash the event, but instead, they were the event. The 10 guests were accompanied by their handler Shawn Queenan as part of an educational presentation by Curious Creatures educational programs.

Curious Creatures provides educational programs to children and adults of all ages, from private birthday parties to school and library events and even for movies and promotional events. The programs are designed to educate about the animals being shown, as well as teach respect and appreciation for all animals. Their hands-on programs can be designed to teach to specific subject matters, such as rainforest animals, desert animals or care and training.

Queenan, who has been with Curious Creatures for a year and half, first saw them at his 12th birthday party. He said he was hooked and has loved them ever since.

Many of the animals shown have been rescued or adopted from people who could no longer care for them, so they don't always no exactly how old all the animals are Queenan said. Curious Creatures also have animals for adoption for people looking to care for an exotic pet.
