Election Results: Close Ward 1 and 4 Council Races; At-Large Incumbent Councilors Victorious

Not one, but two City Council ward races were decided by fewer than 10 votes in Peabody on Tuesday.

In Ward 1, Jon Turco defeated Brian Barrett by a 964-955 margin.

In Ward 4, there was even more of a razor-thin margin, as Edward Charest defeated Jared Hochman by only four votes, 655-651.

In the at-large race, it wasn’t that close, as all five incumbents; Thomas Gould, Anne Manning-Martin, David Gravel, Thomas Walsh, and Michael Garabedian; were returned to office with non-incumbent Peter Bakula on the outside looking in.

In a six-way race for three seats on the School Committee, incumbent Brandi Carpenter was joined by Joseph Amico and John Olimpio in victory.

Overall, 20 percent of Peabody’s registered voters cast ballots on Tuesday.
