Ex-Federal Agent Cleared in Peabody Rape Case

Former Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent found not guilty of rape charges involving a young girl.

A former Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent has been found not guilty of raping a young girl at a Peabody hotel six years ago.

The case against Neil Julien, a former supervisor at a Florida detention facility, got underway earlier this week in Salem Superior Court and a verdict was delivered by a jury after just two days of deliberation, reports the Salem News.

The Salem News reports that Julien was first accused two years ago of raping the child of a former girlfriend back in 2007 while they were on a family trip in Peabody and staying at the Hampton Inn on Route 1.

Julien argued that the girl's mother had convinced her to make up the accusations out of revenge because he didn't buy the mother a house, reports the Salem News.

Julien's brother also testified about a phone conversation in 2008 in which the mother allegedly threatened to ruin Julien.
