Falmouth Road Race Finishers in Peabody
Eight Peabody residents completed the New Balance Falmouth Road Race.

The New Balance Falmouth Road Race, established in 1973, brings in thousands of runners from all over the world each year. On the morning of Sunday, Aug. 17, elite and recreational runners toed the starting line to run the 7-mile route that goes from Woods Hole to Falmouth Heights.
This year’s overall winner was Stephen Sambu, of Kenya, who ran the course in a time of 31:46. Sambu won the race 45 seconds ahead of the second place finisher and defending champion Micah Kogo, of Kenya, who ran a time of 32:31. A total of 5,115 men ran the race.
Out of 6,068 women in the race, the top finisher was Betsy Saina, of Kenya, in 35:56. Close behind Saina was Gemma Steel, of Great Britain, who finished in 36:03, and American Molly Huddle finishing in 36:15.
