George Peabody Legacy Award Winners Honored For Education Dedication
The Peabody Education Foundation is honoring six award recipients for their lifetime of contributions to the city's schools.
PEABODY, MA — Five members of the North Shore community will be honored for their lifetime contributions to the city's education system as George Peabody Legacy Award recipients.
The Peabody Education Foundation said on Tuesday that Karlyne Furnari, Fran Gallugi, David Gravel, Keri Kinnaly, Rosemary Slattery and Mark Whiting will receive their awards at a ceremony at the Higgins Middle School on Oct. 19 at 6 p.m.
The George Peabody Legacy Award is presented by the Peabody Education Foundation to recognize and honor the educators and philanthropists from within the community who work to provide a lifetime of contributions to the educational system.

Educators are honored for being both learners and facilitators of learning while attending to the social and emotional needs of their students and seeking to make a lasting, positive impact by providing a progressive atmosphere that meets the needs of every, individual child.
The Peabody Education Foundation recognizes that the COVID-19 health crisis disrupted traditional ways of educating students and celebrates the way teachers and community members have responded by providing an education that goes beyond academics.
