Two Firefighters Injured in Multi-Alarm Fire at Peabody Home

The blaze at 25 Baldwin St. was quickly knocked down; the injured responders are expected to be okay, according to Peabody Fire.

PEABODY, MA – Two firefighters were injured in a two-alarm fire at a Baldwin Street residence in Peabody Monday afternoon.

The blaze was first reported at 3:30 p.m. at 25 Baldwin St., according to the Peabody Fire Department. It originated in the basement before extending to the first floor and spreading to the second floor and attic.

Firefighters were initially told that one of the sons living at the residence may have been in the house, though nobody was found during a search of the home.

According to the Peabody Fire Department, the fire was knocked down within 45 minutes after firefighters ventilated the roof and gained control over the flames.

Two firefighters sustained injuries during the fire; one was taken to Lahey Hospital in Burlington with symptoms consistent with overheating. The second strained his neck and was relieved of duty for the rest of the day.

Both firefighters are expected to be okay, according to the Peabody Fire Department.

Firefighters from the Salem Fire Department assisted in bringing the blaze under control; crews from Lynn, Danvers and Lynnfield also provided outside coverage.
