How Well Do You Know Peabody?
Former carriage factory once occupied this part of the city.

How well do you know Peabody? This week we ask you if know what stands on this site where the former C.W. Brine Carriage Factory once stood.
This photograph provided by the and the Peabody Leatherworkers Museum shows what was once a thriving industry that began in the 1820s. Dole & Osgood and Pike & Whipple also made carriages that were sold as far away as the Hawaiian Islands. James A. Roome, carriage builder and blacksmith operated this business at the above site from the late 1880s to the 1920s.
Be the first one to guess what currently occupies the site of this former factory and you will win a $5 Dunkin Donuts gift card. Please e-mail your guesses to: robert.cook@patch.com. On Monday at 9 a.m., Peabody Patch will post this photo and a photo of what is located here now with the winner's name.
