ICYMI: Peabody Library to Offer Free Tutoring, Lunch This Summer

PEABODY, MA — Summer is approaching and schools are letting out. But for parents interested in making sure their kids are still learning during the summer months, there's a new, free option.

The Peabody Institute Library is launching a completely free tutoring program for students in grades 1-12 this summer, the library announced Friday.

The summer academic program — called the Peabody Volunteer Tutoring Organization — was created by Peabody Veterans Memorial High School alumni attending college. Tutoring will be offered for six subjects: English, math, science, social studies, SAT preparation and AP preparation.

The tutoring project will be held for Peabody Public School students of all ages Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Peabody Institute Library will also be offering free lunch for kids and teens Monday through Thursday this summer. The free lunches will be  sponsored by Haven from Hunger, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Participation in the tutoring sessions is not required to receive the free lunch.
