Last Call For Sea Witch: Another Route One Landmark Is Closing

The new owners plan to renovate and change the name of a seafood joint on the rapidly changing stretch of Route One.

PEABODY, MA -- Another longtime Route One institution is going the way of the Hilltop Steakhouse, the Ship and the orange dinosaur mini golf course. Sea Witch Restaurant & Oyster Bar is being replaced by the North Shore Lobster Company, which will be operated by a new owner.

Boston Restaurant Talk, which first reported the story, said Sea Witch has been operating on Route One for at least 50 years. The new owners plan to renovate the space and will put more emphasis on the market side of the business, adding prepared meals to the fish that is already sold by Sea Witch.
