Lynn Man Charged with Murder of Peabody Man Ordered Held Without Bail

A Lynn man was ordered held without bail in Lynn District Court Friday in connection with the murder of a Peabody man.

LYNN, MA—A Lynn man charged with murdering a 24-year-old Peabody man was ordered held without bail in Lynn District Court Friday, Essex District Attorney's office spokeswoman Carrie Kimball-Monahan confirmed with Patch.

Michael Tate, 28, of Lynn is charged with killing Peabody resident Philip Russo in Lynn Monday. Police say that Russo was found lying in intersection of Chestnut and Union Streets in Lynn suffering from a gunshot wound just before 6 a.m. Monday, according to Kimball-Monahan.

Russo was taken to Lynn Union Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Russo's obituary posted on Patch states that he was an employee of Town Fair Tire in Danvers.

The Salem News reports that the shooting did not appear to have been random, according to Lynn Police Capt. Mark O'Toole.
