Man Accused Of Robbing Peabody Bank Considers Plea Deal
Leo Wilwerth was arrested in Boston after fleeing the robbery on June 11 in a taxi cab.

PEABODY, MA -- The man accused of robbing a Peabody bank and then fleeing in a taxi in June would serve at least 3 1/2 year in prison under a plea agreement. Leo Willwerth, 32, was in court Thursday for a hearing in which his attorney asked a judge to allow the sentence from the Peabody robbery to run concurrently to a sentence handed down in Suffolk Superior Court earlier this month.
According to the Salem News which first reported this story, Wilwerth will be back in court Dec. 5 to decide whether he will accept the deal to plead guilty to armed robbery and a bomb threat. Wilwerth has a history of robberies, including a 2014 robbery of a New Hampshire bank in which he also claimed to have a bomb. Leo Willwerth, 32, of East Boston, was arrested after Massachusetts State Police followed the taxi cab he was riding in with a helicopter.
