Man Claiming To Be With State Police Tries To Photograph Kids

The man claimed he was taking the photos to enter them into an Amber Alert system.

PEABODY, MA -- Peabody Police responded to multiple reports of a attempting to take pictures of children Saturday night. The man said he was with the Massachusetts State Police and told parents he was taking photos to enter them into the Amber Alert systems, according to the Peabody Police log. The State Police said there is no such program and no officer was taking photos in Peabody.

The man told one of the callers his name was Scott and that he worked for the Serur Company. Peabody Police were unable to get in touch with a representative from the Serur Company, a Wilmington-based life insurance company.

Police also responded to a call at 6:42 pm call at the Northshore Mall, where juveniles said a man had tried to take their photo. The man was gone on arrival.
