Memorial Day 2016: Weekend, Holiday Forecast In Peabody

Weather forecasters have made their predictions for Memorial Day weekend. Here's what you need to know.

PEABODY, MA — If you're planning on spending time outside on Memorial Day, you may want to bring an umbrella with you.

Memorial Day is a weekend for paying tribute to our fallen soldiers, the unofficial start of summer and the day to break out your freshest pair of white pants. 

But the weather may not cooperate with the festivities.

Showers and thunderstorms could threaten outdoor activities and travel plans during the extended weekend, according to the a Weather.com forecast. As of Wednesday's forecast, storms and showers are expected to hit Peabody Friday morning, Saturday night, Sunday morning and Monday morning.

While each day is not expected to be a washout, area residents will need to be prepared to bring outdoor celebrations inside at the first sound of thunder.

But despite the rain, temperatures will remain in the 70s and 80s throughout the weekend, according to Weather.com

Here is the complete forecast:

Friday: Partly cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms in the morning. High temperature will be around 77 degrees. There will be a 40 percent chance of precipitation.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a stray chance of a shower or thunderstorm. There will be a 20 percent chance of precipitation with a low temperature around 60 degrees.

Saturday: Intervals of clouds and sunshine, with a high near 83 degrees.  There will be a 20 percent chance of precipitation.

Saturday night: Isolated evening thunderstorms, with a low around 61 degrees.  There will be a 30 percent chance of precipitation.

Sunday: Showers in the morning will lead to clear skies in the afternoon with a high of 69 degrees. Chance of precipitation will be 40 percent.

Sunday night: Cloudy, with low temperature of 54 degrees. Chance of precipitation will be 20 percent.

Memorial Day: Cloudy with occasional showers. Thunder is a possibility. Forecast calls for a high temperature near 75 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

Monday night: Few clouds, with a low around 59. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
