Message from Peabody Democratic City Committee Acting Chair Deb Ryan

Dear Peabody Democrats & Friends:

I want to share with you that Mike Schulze, the force behind reorganizing the Peabody Democratic City Committee this past February, has chosen to step down as Chair. It was always Mike’s intention, when he led the reorganization & installation of officers on a temporary basis, that he would step aside when our Committee demonstrated not only new vitality in commitment and leadership but sustainability as well. He feels that after a productive year culminating in our very successful Pre-Election Rally in November, that this is the right time.

So as Vice Chair, I will need to take on the responsibilities of Acting Chair until the full Committee can elect a Chairperson of their choice. For that reason & several others, I would like to convene a citywide meeting of the PDCC on Saturday, January 11, 2014. We are still confirming the place & time but tentative plans include a caucus workshop at 11 am, followed by a light lunch, and then a business meeting.

Our good friend Arthur Powell who is a member of the State Committee from Beverly, is part of the State Field Services Team that is conducting caucus workshops throughout the state. He is responsible for our Senate District & is available to come on that date. He will go over all the critical rules & regulations for electing delegates this year from all the Wards in Peabody to the State Nominating Convention for Governor and Lieutenant Governor. And as you know, we’ve already had all the candidates here at the Rally looking for our support…& they’ll be back! They have all expressed how important Peabody is to them. Right now, we are looking at Peabody caucuses being held in February.

Our business meeting will enable us to discuss a few important things: follow-up to our Rally & the Municipal Elections; presentation by the Social/Fundraising Subcommittee on proposed plans for a Democrat of the Year Luncheon in March; presentation by the Bylaws Subcommittee on a draft of PDCC Bylaws for approval; proposed formation of a Membership & Outreach Subcommittee; and election of City Committee Officers.

Thank you all for a great 2013! As united Peabody Democrats, I think we can look forward to even more positive accomplishments in 2014!!!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you & your loved ones,

Debbie Ryan
PDCC Acting Chair
