New Date For Peabody Pride Cleanup
The event is part of Mayor Bettencourt's 'Peabody Pride in Motion' initiative.
From The City of Peabody: Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt, Jr. is pleased to announce that the annual Peabody Pride spring volunteer community cleanup has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 18, 2019. Volunteers are invited to City Hall at 9:00AM to pick up their supplies and then fan out to targeted areas throughout downtown Peabody. A free pizza lunch will be served to all volunteers at the Leather City Common at 11:30 AM.
The cleanup effort marks the continuation of Mayor Bettencourt’s ‘Peabody Pride in Motion’ initiative which has reignited the citizen participation and community spirit often associated with the tenure of one of Bettencourt’s predecessors, the late Mayor Peter Torigian.
“Many of us who grew up in Peabody remember the deep feelings of pride which came with being part of this unique community,” said Bettencourt. “As Mayor, I have strived to restore that sense of Peabody as a special place to live, work, go to school and raise a family. These clean- ups have proven to be a great occasion to get together with family, friends and neighbors and do something positive and constructive towards making Peabody a better place.”
